Matthew Pelz
Biography
Matthew Pelz is director of the Center for Coastal Heritage, a project of Galveston Historical Foundation, researching the environmental challenges facing preservation efforts in coastal areas.
The CCH works in collaboration with experts from diverse fields, including preservation, engineering, nature conservation, and public health to participate in rehabilitation projects as a strategy for building sustainability and to educate on the coastal environment and its impact on historic, architectural, and maritime resources.
He earned degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in history and the Clemson University/College of Charleston joint program in historic preservation. He was raised in Hendersonville, North Carolina and now resides in Richmond, Virginia.
