Marilou Ehrler
Biography
Marilou Ehrler, R.A. is a historical architect and the Chief of Cultural Resources at Gateway National Recreation Area. Ms. Ehrler joined NPS in 2008 after many years in private practice, where she specialized in the preservation and restoration of historic structures.
As a licensed architect with a Master’s in Historic Preservation, her experience includes adaptive reuse, restoration, preservation planning, evaluation and assessment, documentation, design, and project management.
Since joining NPS she has utilized her experience first at the Northeast Region where she oversaw the region’s List of Classified Structures and now at Gateway National Recreation Area, first as the historic architect and now as Chief of Cultural Resources. She has represented cultural resources on Gateway’s new General Management Plan, developed a method of prioritizing the Park’s cultural resources and worked with the Sandy Recovery team to develop resilient solutions for repair of the Park’s cultural resources damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
