Joanna Hambly

Biography

Aged 17, whilst at college, a friend talked Joanna into volunteering on a dig and she has been involved with archaeology ever since.

Joanna has a degree in archaeology from the University of Sheffield and post-graduate degree in Quaternary Science from Royal Holloway, University of London. Archaeology has taken Joanna all around the world including stints with the government archaeology service in France and with UNESCO in Sri Lanka. She worked in commercial and curatorial archaeology in England before joining SCAPE at the University of St Andrews in 2009 where she is in the happy position of being able to combine archaeological research with her passion for involving volunteers and her enjoyment of being on the coast.
