Biography
Dr. Sedef Doganer is an associate professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and studies design issues related to tourist spaces, urban revitalization, sustainable tourism development, and is an expert on cultural heritage tourism. She specializes in innovative, multi-disciplinary research on sustainable development in historic cities, and preservation of the urban fabric and landscapes of San Antonio. Dr Doganer’s most recent projects include Preliminary Design of a New San Antonio State Hospital and an analysis of heritage tourism potential of San Antonio Missions World Heritage Buffer Zone. She received her Bachelor of Architecture, Master of Science in Architecture, and Ph.D. from Istanbul Technical University. She currently serves as Associate Dean for Design, Inclusion and Engaged Scholarship at the College of Architecture, Construction and Planning and Department Chair of Architecture. Dr Doganer is also a member of ICOMOS International Cultural Tourism Committee.
