Dispatches from the 2017 Hurricane Season: Harvey, Irma, Jose & Maria

Rising Waters and Established Communities
Case Studies from the projects led by H+N+S who have designed and executed regional programs of resiliency design in the Netherlands (Room for the River) beginning in the late 1990s with 3 of the 34 projects completed to date in existing historic areas, in New Orleans and New York, having been part of the Rebuild New York program paid for by Sandy funding.  The firm takes into account ecology, recreational activities, water safety, natural development, parks and other land uses tied to urban living as the basis for their planning and design work to address rising waters within established communities.

Dispatches from the 2017 Hurricane Season: Harvey, Irma, Jose & Maria
The 2017 hurricane season is likely unprecedented—four major events (thusfar) have devastated multiple cities and towns in several areas of the US. Please join climate experts and preservation colleagues, including from Florida, South Carolina and Texas, to learn firsthand how these recent storms have impacted cultural heritage, how each community is responding and what help they need, and how these events could influence decisions and policies in the future.
