Sands House Resiliency Project

The Sands House (c. 1740), located on lower Prince George Street one block from City Dock, is one of the oldest frame houses in Annapolis. Located in close proximity to the 100 year flood plain, the building is considered to be highly vulnerable and needs protection from future flooding and extreme weather conditions. In 2014, the US Army Corps of Engineers worked closely with the City of Annapolis to identify potential flood risk adaptation measures. Come visit Sands during our open house hours to learn about the building’s historical significance and to discuss various strategies for implementing near and long term mitigation measures.
