Biography

Leslee Keys, PhD, is Director of Historic Preservation and Special Initiatives and an Assistant Professor at Flagler College.  She balances public and private expertise with academic experience, focuses on conservation of urban and rural cultural resources, develops and implements creative responses to community challenges, and builds partnerships across disciplines.  Her career includes securing millions of dollars in funding for development and implementation of programs, for building and landscape preservation, and to further higher education initiatives.  Her recent efforts address impacts to cultural resources of sea level rise and disasters.  She holds a doctoral degree from the University of Florida which honored her with its first Distinguished Alumni Award in Historic Preservation. She has worked in Ohio, Kentucky and Florida.  She is a Trustee Emerita of the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation, serves on the US/ICOMOS Board of Trustees, and is co-chair of Keeping History Above Water:  St. Augustine 2019 – Envision 2050.
