A Sea Level Rise Update
This talk will present the new U.S. sea level rise scenarios recently developed by a Federal Interagency Taskforce for the 4th National Climate Assessment and discuss their implications for Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay region. Impacts will be discussed in terms of how tidal/storm-surge flood frequencies, which have been rapidly increasing over the last several decades due to sea level rise, will likely change in response. Largely dependent upon the amount of future ocean and atmospheric warming, a range of outcomes are possible by century’s end, some of which could profoundly change the Chesapeake Bay region.
